- just wondering, at what point is one considered "a builder"?
I love building for my sims, the fact that they get to use it makes the building more rewarding for me.
But also the venues I got reflect the type of sims I play, for example I only got 2 gyms in whole cause I hardly ever play athletic sims. - SweetieWright_847 years agoSeasoned Ace@RavenSpit, I consider a builder to be anyone who builds anything in-game. If they find enjoyment in it, then they're a builder to me.
I was curious because a lot of youtubers I watch seem to say they never play the game other than to build, and I wondered if that was a common thing. It's really just a fun poll. "SweetieWright_84;c-17146387" wrote:
@Writin_Reg, I assume you mean CAW tool in TS3? I never got the hang of that. I tried but I couldn't do much. Plus, it froze a lot.
I built on maps all the way back to sims 1 - which was mostly a copy map extension using simple code - then I'd change up the new area.
Sims 2 I made maps using Sim City 4 and turn them into templates.
Sims 3 yes - CAW but mostly helping other creators troubleshoot and fix their world creations and of course fixing Maxis ep maps that had issues - mostly routing. CAW was a beast to be sure unless you really showed it who was boss - that was not me - lol but many of my friends are world builders using CAW, but for me it was mainly a tool for fixing or solving problems with the worlds and helping the Creators make their worlds run troublefree. But yes CAW is not user friendly for sure - but it did do the things I needed it to do. I enjoyed feeling helpful in Sims 3 - I miss that.
Sims 4 has truly left me out of my element... but luckily I have also always liked playing the games. I had to play in order to troubleshoot map problems - so for me I played as much as I built. I also got ideas for maps in Sims 2 from playing the game. So I am a builder - player.- SweetieWright_847 years agoSeasoned Ace

I didn't come into the franchise until late TS3--about a year or two before Supernatural released--so I know very little of TS2, and nothing about TS1. When Origin had TS2UC for free, I got and played around with it but I still know very little. - I rarely build without the intention to use it in my gameplay.

Oh no thats a little different from what I do. I meant rebuild my own build lots from years ago. I just decide what the world should look like according to my storyline at the time or new lot ideas that I came up with. I just had 2-3 new lot ideas or Sulani, so I demolished what seems the best ground for my ideas and what I can miss. I left the rest for what it is until I have better plans for them. I try to keep pre-mades in my world, but when they die out and their homes get filled with weird sims, I have no problem replacing those houses as well as the sims who live in them.
Oh, ok. I misunderstood, my mistake. That still sounds time consuming.
Mine started out as a challenge for myself; to see if could stick to rebuilding/building on every lot and make something I like. Then it sort of just snowballed into me saying, "If I'm going to build new lots for every world, then I might as well make all new Sims." I have one more household to make and I will be done. My goal is to have it all done so I can spend the rest of the summer playing in it.
I've made two save files, one unpopulated and the other populated. They have the same builds and everything just one has sims and the other doesn't. I'll probably share them here (on the forums) at some point. - Usually I build half the time and play the other half
but now I have gotten into bad habit of just building
because I am too scared to enter my game save without cc shelves I put for my collectibles
and idk if those will work so ultimately I am just sitting here like ''oH well i guess its time to rebuild all the other lots'' - ValiantRedKnight7 years agoSeasoned AceI spend a ton of time building houses, but I also play a fair amount of family stuff too. I might have to stop playing with families for a while because of the toddler thing, though.
- I like to make my builds functional so spend some time playing with them after I've finished building. No point making something pretty if it doesn't work!
- brenleedee7 years agoRising AceI go through spells it seems, when I first ever started playing the Sims I HATED building..ugh just drop a box down and I was good to go  then in Sims 4 I decided to give it a try so I do like building, but I also LOVE playing the game and because I play I build very "Simmer friendly" homes, not a lot of clutter(just not my thing and causes issues in play) As beautiful as it is to use so much on a lot I think it interferes with game play.
