Building a greenhouse on a lot with fundation

I know it's a tad early, but because we got the glass roof, I wanted to add a greenhouse.

But, the main house has a foundation, so when I build anything on this lot, it will have a foundation, too.

Is there a way to avoid the foundation on certain builds? Main house needs to stay as is.

Must a green house be technically enclosed with walls and roof, or can I say build just a roof on columns, and still grow plants during winter?

There's no way. Sorry.

The plants will grow during winter if you have a roof above it, so yeah.

I hope they will one day make it possible so that we can build a shack or greenhouse on the lot even if it has foundations.

Limiting the foundations to rooms instead of to the the entire lot.

Why not build the green house with foundation, take out the floor and put stairs to get into it?

Yes, I built stairs when my greenhouses had foundations and that was OK for sims to access them. Didn't change the floors though. I've got another small problem because some of my greenhouses will allow me to add trees and some won't. It has nothing to do with the foundation/no foundation and I can't see where you can change the size of walls like you can with windows and doors.

@rudolpha To change wall size you click on the built structure/wall and change the height like that, where the controls to rotate and move pop-up.

Thanks all! For some reason I took it for granted that those plant boxes had to stand on the ground, so I removed the floor. This greenhouse is quite small, and adding stairs inside would take up too many floor tiles. Outside the stair is very nice. So, I'll just keep the floor - easy! :)

I'm building it only for herbs and a few small veggies. Don't mind bigger items like trees etc go dormant during winter.

I was loading up sims eager to try the greenhouses and this is what stopped me. I hope they one day limit the foundations to rooms too. It seems silly to me that they'd enforce it.

I just added a deck with stairs down inside mine and then I deleted the rest of the floor so the plants still grow in the ground. Ideally I want separate foundations but I think it still looked nice for now.
