I assume these lot challenges will be a base game feature and if so, gameplay can become a lot more interesting for those who need more danger and challenging gameplay in their Sims.
As you mentioned above I do hope previously nerfed features become a lot challenge instead!
If implemented well enough I can imagine plenty more awesomeness coming to TS4 including burglars, undead attacks, befriending monsters (or die), a spaceship asylum challenge plus randomly materializing death pits. ❤️
