I think the main Hobbies aspect of this pack is not when playing as a Small Business owner (though you can certainly profit from your hobby with it), but rather the experience when visiting the new lots as a Customer.Do you have a sim that loves to watch movies? Set up a Cinema as a business. Charge an entry fee (ticket price) and either include free popcorn with the ticket, or set some snacks for sale. Win-win for both owner and customer (your sim gets a real cinema experience, your business owner gets profit). I see this was further down your post.
You love horses, but live in an apartment? Visit a Stable owned by a Horse Breeder/Trainer to socialise with the horses and maybe learn how to ride. Win-win-win for your sim, the Horse Trainer and the horses (your sim gets their horse fix, the owner gets Class fees and the horses get care, attention and maybe skills too.)
Love camping? Want to introduce the kiddos to it without forking out a ton of cash for equipment or a vacation? Visit the local Campground and spend the night under the stars telling stories, fishing and toasting marshmallows. Owner gets your entry fee, kiddos get a fun family memory, the wife comes home with a new loathing of icky things because she gained the Squeamish trait whilst fishing and you are laughing at her because you have the Evil trait. Win-win-loss-win, but you were planning to divorce her anyway.
These are just a couple of examples. A fantastic pack for rotational gameplay/BACC, imo, though you could also set up things to visit for legacy saves too. It's also a great way to try a lot of different hobbies/hangouts and gain new preferences for skills and sims.
