But I Cleared Their Marriage, Already, So Why?

I have done something some would consider rather silly. I do a Save As with each gaming session, so I can easily go backward and select an already played moment in time and do whatever I wish with it. I recently went back to the time right before the Cantrell kids and Kayleigh Golden went off to Uni.  I made certain to clear Kayleigh's marriage and also Erik's so I could see just how they grew to become a couple. Well, they started off with a short green bar, which is what I wanted. Only he takes her home and at one point complimented her outfit, which should unlock the possibility for love.  When I checked their bar, full pink. They fell for each other and they fell hard.  🤪

Any time I've restarted these two families, I always thought it was because in prior iterations of them, they were BFFs and very much in love with each other.  So, now I'm uncertain what to think. If clearing their marriage doesn't bring them back to square one, what does? 😮

Has anyone else had such an experience where you've used the same two Sims to have them leap from barely friends to BFFs to True Love?

I'm still having fun, but I'm perplexed.

Please add your thoughts and any other strange things of this nature that has occurred in your game.

  • I have no clue technically. Never made anyone BFF either, so I wouldn't know how that affects he pink bar. But I'm pretty sure that just deleting their marriage will do nothing more than give them the status as single. If chemestry is super duper they will sill build romantic relation faster. If they were BFF I assume they still have that status. Hm, did you check if they have a BFF trait? If they do, you could delete it, but I'm not sure why you would do that? Also, if you want to totally reset their relation, and they don't have any family tree involving parents etc, you could always take one o them via the album, then to CAS as to create a new sim, and they will never ever have met before.

Lots of fuzz for a not played old save though.

I do the "save as" thing, too :) But only for back up, and only 2-3 times during a RL year.

Yes, sometimes things are going to happen, just because they're going to happen. Frustrating, but also true in real life. Heavy sigh.

Yes the abduction part is totally true, the career makes it happen way more often... and abduction triggers the buff, so, yep 😊

I 'Save as" too!  😀   Anyway, I did a lot of 'restoring" to a previous time trying to avoid a sim from getting the "Fear of the Dark" which would never go away or stop giving Zoey the buff - the game just repeated the same outcome, so many times that I gave up... She will have the fear of the dark until she is sent through in netherworld! 😖 Zoey had been abducted like 10 times in a row...  literally... for 16 days straight (sims days), either Zoey or Chelsie were abducted.  It stopped because I stopped playing their household/game.

Absolutely. Which is sweet in and of itself. But I guess I just wanted the trials of getting two Sims together. Oh, well. The mod I wanted to play with is broken, even though it was just updated. I do believe that last round of patches took it out. But what do I know?

I do have MCCC. I just know when I do a Shift/Click on a Sim I get a couple of different options, one being Marriages. When I click it, I get the option to Clear.

  • I have one sims couple who are fated mates. They got this special relationship when they were both werewolves. She was cured and became a spellcaster, he still is a werewolf but their special bond lasts. I love this little detail about them.

Just out of curiosity, how did you clear their marriage? Was it a mod or a divorce? I believe with mccc you can set the relationship for the green and the pink bar separately so that could set it back if you still want to.

  • It really does feel like they are meant to be together!
