This is probably one of my biggest issues with the game, to be honest. I don't mind the occasional odd item that doesn't know if it's a sofa or chaise longue, but at least make the thing colour co-ordinated within a set! I love a lot of the Parenthood items, but just a few tweaks would've helped to make it cohesive, specifically, the 3-seater, 2-seater sofas and armchair should all match. And with a decent colour swatch that makes sense and is uniform across its group set. The soft furnishings in the sets should reflect each other - for example, your sofa cushion pattern/colours match your curtain pattern/colours, or the rug, the carpet, or whatever! It doesn't force you into sticking to that if you like it more eclectic, but that's where other sets/other packs can shine. Woods should be uniformly using the same texture within a set - as in, your coffee table, bookshelf, tv table in the living room should have the same wood swatch (think how IKEA works - which Maxis knows well, given there was an IKEA pack for Sims 2). I would kill for an IKEA pack for Sims 4! Bring me the glory of Hemnes! (Norwegian site, you will likely have your own language IKEA page)
Curtains should also come in all sizes for the windows, including short and long drops *and* on the diagonal without looking odd. Also, simple roller blinds to fit between curtains without the use of MOO. Blinds should also come with a rolled closed, or near closed, option. I could go on!
There's also nothing wrong with having a few distinguished items - there should be some stand-out unique pieces for sure - and I'm not saying all wood textures and colour swatches should be exactly the same the whole game over. I'm simply saying that within a furniture or decorating set, it should be possible to match items cohesively.
