Can I buy DLC from Steam?

@ModerateOsprey you can't just enter the license code in origin? That's a bummer. I bought all of sims 3, except katy perry, on steam last year or so & was able to enter every single license code in origin.

Yes, you can buy the "packs" from anywhere they are sold, and you will be registering them on Origin. They all sell you the keys, then you have to put the keys into Origin to play.

It used to be that you could choose disks or another platform that offered them, but since at least 2014 Origin has been required no matter what. Maybe it cuts down on theft? It certainly cuts down on resales of used games because you don't have disks to resell.
My son, who only buys games on Steam, complains about it on a near daily basis. He only has one game that is EA, but it forced him to have both clients on his computer.

It's a no go sadly @Starfree @lisamwitt and anyone else reading...

You cannot buy just the DLC from Steam if you don't have the base game through Steam. Last post from EA in this thread:

Interesting. So if you buy the base game on Steam... it doesn't matter where you buy the DLC, but if you buy the base game on Origin you have to stick with Origin??? That's weird and confusing. It shouldn't matter since Origin makes you register regardless.

Aye, I was surprised. Also the front page of Steam is plastered with EA summer sale ads and there is some good discounts on sims stuff, but everything is full price at Origin and no mention of a sale.

Origin had a sale before Steam's. They seem to take great care not to overlap.
