Can I move my saves to another computer?

I might buy a new PC and I want to play my current saves.

  • You sure can. Just transfer them on a flash drive.

They are found in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Saves.

Just put them into the same folder on your new PC.

So you just click on the Saves Folder to copy everything? I've never done this before.
  • Yas, you most certainly can! I had to spend Christmas last year doing so when I got my new computer and everything works exactly the same as it did on the old computer. Here’s what to do:
    1. Copy the entire saves folder (or your entire Sims 4 folder if you want your screenshots and everything else too) to a USB.
    2. Load up The Sims 4 on your new computer completely clean and start a save. This will generate a Sims 4 folder on your computer you can copy your saves into.
    3. Plug your USB into the new computer and copy all of the content in your saves folder into the new Sims 4 folder. If you would like to keep your library items, copy all the content from your tray folder into the newly generated folder of the same title.
    4. Load up The Sims 4 again. This time, your other saves should show up!
  • No problem. I just had to replace my hard drive and luckily I had sent EA a save in August which was stored on onedrive, I put it in my save folder and it works fine.

If you have cc don’t forget to move the mods folder as well and the tray folder for your library (in my case I lost all that).
  • The alternative is using the cloud to save your games via Origin, that way even if your HDD siezed up and you couldn't get your save files, they'd be there waiting on the EA service. all you'd need to do is reinstall the game, put everything else back and place and run the game, the save games will be there for you to play once uploaded from Origin.

Run Origin > Origin > Application settings > Installs & Saves > Cloud storage > Saves > Button to right, green bar.

    That is amazing!
  • If you use a share drive or cloud storage (Google Drive) you can share any files to any computer. My friend and I share saves this way. My computer files, tablet and phone are already backed up (synced) to the cloud so when I got my new computer everything was already there in the cloud I was able to just drag and drop the files. I did not have to go buy a flash drive or worry about misplacing it.
