Can Mermaids get pregnant?

I decided on my game mermen can’t father children and mermaids have to come ashore to seduce male sims to continue the race. I completely forgot it could be a 50/50 situation with the kids being merfolk or not. Doh!! I’ll have to create a little ceremony where all the kids eat mermaids kelp on aging up. Eep!

So cool to see that pregnant mermaid though. That makes me happy ?
