Can someone clear up how the Connections trait works?

I bought it, quit my job at the top level at the musician career and started in the scientist career at level 4 then quit that to get into the medical career at level 4. I did that so I could get the rennisance sims aspiration easier. But i wanted to be a scientist for a while. So I rejoined that career and I was at level 3. I quit thinking it must randomly set you a level when you get hired so I took the job again and I was level 2. :( So I guess your connections get used up when you rejoin the same job several times? Is there a way to restore it? I was hoping to be able to switch jobs as much as I wanted.

  • Connections starts you off at 4 the first time you enter that career, but everything after that works the same as normal. When it comes to rejoining careers, the trait has no effect. You will be demoted as usual.
  • Hello
You can use the careers cheat to restore your sim back their original career level

  • Wow thanks, both of you :) rosemow, that site is really helpful btw.
  • Does the Connections trait boost you at all if you stay in the same job after you get it? I don't very often have sims with enough points to take it before they age up to YA so it doesn't get that much use in my game.

I thought sims that aged up with an A in high school started out at level 3 of any career they chose anyway?

Not always. Some of it seems to be based on their skills as well. If the skill fits the promotion requirement, they might start at level 2.

With Connections you start at level 4, with a Grade A in high school you start at level 3. There was a time when you didn't get the rewards for those early levels when getting the boost, but they fixed that in a patch, so you'll get all career rewards up to your level.
