Can someone explain to me what's so great about witches?

I think for me there's just a lot of possibility. Assuming there's a variety of spells available. I'm hoping for the ability to customize magic to a certain character's personality. (So, all fire-based spells for one Sim and all water-based spells for another.) You can build a world of witches and wizards like Harry Potter or play more of an X-men kinda thing. It feels like they have more story options than other supernaturals.
