Can this be done and what things should I do to make it work well?

I have an idea for a save that I'm sure isn't a unique one and I want to know how to best accomplish it so I have a few questions for those of you who may have tried this before or simply know the game well enough to simply know how to best do it.

Overall goal: I would like to create a save with sims as young as possible representing myself and friends including my exes and current significant other.

My desire is to see how my sims relationships with the sims representing my friends develop.

Setting this up is the part that seems pretty time consuming on the surface. This is how I'm thinking it needs to be done.

  1. Figure out how many unique family's needed to represent the my own as well as all the friends/exes I want in the game.
  2. Figure out how many residential lots I need for this then figure out if this can be done with a world in the base game or if I need a pack and, if so, which one.
  3. Figure out the best way to create these Sims. To create whole families from scratch is going to be more time consuming than I want it to be so I'm thinking the best way is to edit Sims of the existing families in whichever world I end up using then download as many additional families to get to the # I need. I've never done any editing of Sims like this but I believe it can be done, right? Including changing ages & sexes.

I think these are the only things I need to do to accomplish my goal and get to where I can begin playing but am I overlooking anything?

  • It sounds like you have the logistics pretty well covered. For #3, if I am understanding your plan correctly, you will likely just need to use the cas.fulleditmode cheat before you go into Manage Households to edit the preexisting households. That should allow you to change pretty much everything.

I would just say, sometimes people find these simself saves more uncomfortable than they expected, so be emotionally prepared for that possibility. And whatever you do, be sure not to get mad at your real life friends and family for the things their counterparts do in the game! (I joke, but only partly.)

I appreciate your reply. Fortunately I have a firm grasp on reality so no worries there.
