Hi! So I’m in the market for a new laptop! I’m going away for college so i can’t justify bringing my desktop into a dorm, and frankly it was definitely time to upgrade, I had a GT graphics card! So I’m looking to spend between 500-700 as this will be my secondary computer ( getting something more portable for class! ) i know very little about computers so any advic is helpful, this is the one that I’ve found that is in budget and sounds good to me! It's a solid choice either way. There were quite a few simmers in the facebook group i was in that had that same acer nitro and they all reported enjoying it also :) @fatbat21

Just make sure it lasts the whole series and maybe sims 5 too if you plan to play it. There's more packs coming to s4 and your computer needs to be powerful engouh for future content too not just for now.

Yes, it will be able to run Ultra/High. I have the same processor and the Ti version of that GPU, but the GPU shouldn't matter too much since the game is mostly CPU reliant. That means you should be fine. However, I really don't recommend Acer due to their build qualities. Maybe it'll be best to look further for maybe a few extra hundreds. It's worth the quality so that it lasts. :)

I have that one but it’s an i7 instead of i5. It definitely can run on ultra but it started to lag a bit for me so I lowered the specs, was able to play on high but I prefer medium, its too bright when it’s on high for me. I do recommend you get a fan though because it gets hot. When I started the game it played on Ultra and the fan started to sound like a jet engine so I had to look up a video on YouTube to decrease a setting on the processor.

They should both do fine for you but as someone else says, I'd certainly recommend cooling of some sort as both are prone to overheating while engaged in gaming. Maybe get one of those cooling pad things for it. My kid runs Sims 4 really well on high settings on hers (its very similar to option 1 that you've listed) but she also runs on a cooling pad and with a fan.

Okay all thank you! The common theme I’m getting is go with the cheaper one because their power level is very similar, it’s just amd vs GeForce and intel So more off brand ish
