Can we paint the ceiling please

Like in the Sims 3 where you could add floor tiles to the ceiling. My screenshots are ruined by a bright white ceiling, ruining the look of the build i'm going for. Example here:

I want to have a dark ceiling to match the style of the Opera House. I know it's a small detail, but it would be greatly appreciated
  • Yours are white? Mine are a dark purple/blue colour

But yes! I'd love this feature too.
  • One thing I was thinking you can do would be to have the upper-level lights show in a different color, it might change up the shade or color of the ceiling.
  • @Flexono1, totally agree...being able to do ceilings is one of the things I'd like to see added.

Until then though, to help you with your problem, I suggest taking shots at an angle that doesn't get much (if any) of the ceiling in the shots. Not ideal, but you can usually get some very nice shots that showcase a build without the ceiling being in it, using angle and zoom creatively.

Really want this as well! I miss this feature from TS2/TS3. It totally ruins some builds.
  • We can't? OMG what, now I'm freaking out. I thought that was a given, since we got the 1.person mode. I was going to make a beautiful home the stare at it through my sims' eyes but I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. That ruined my night ?
  • Yes Yes Yes! I've missed this feature ever since release. I thought of it as a genuine yet simple addition when it was introduced in TS3, kinda surprised it was not kept in TS4. It adds sooooo much atmosphere to any room, being able to avoid the white ceiling. If there are tech reasons we can't add any floor tile to the ceiling, at least allow us to choose between 5-6 alternatives per room, including wooden and darker versions.

It would also make exteriors look better, it's often looking bad when you can see the white ceiling under upper floors standing out a bit, like over an entrance.

PS: Your opera house looks awesome, @Flexono1 !

I realized we couldn't change the ceiling when I built my own house. I guess I just assumed we can because ceilings have been there since release
  • It's a bizarre omission. And you should be able to colour the underside of roofs too. Cabin style and many modern builds look weird otherwise

I've been wondering why ceilings are not like TS2 and TS3 ceilings. I believe the ability to "paint" TS2 ceilings had been added to the game, and maybe the ability will be added to TS4...sometime soon. :p Of course, I wonder why something like this couldn't have been included at release -- doesn't seem that difficult and, if it was, design the game from the start to include those known features sim players love!
