Can we talk about the sims 4 rebrand vidio ?

Besides being cringey.

I feel like this video is manipulating. It feels like they took a bunch of people with self-esteem issues than put them on the center. The thing is this game is not meant to be a safe space, and you shouldn't be using this game as the main comfort. I have issues as well, and this does not sit well with me.

@Horrorgirl6 lots to unpack in that video and I won't harp on what is in the video because others will, but I will harp on the ageism. Looks like everyone in that video was late teens or early twenties and that is the issue. The Sims is one of those rare games that appeals to all ages, but EA/Maxis cater to one demographic - this one age group and that sucks.

I think the marketing team thought they nailed the diversity theme, but NOPE the didn't.
  • So, imma go back to my late 1980s college television classes: freaking focus group these type of videos with multiple demographics, not just your target before you publish some ish like this

Indeed, they didn’t. And it’s more than just this video. I’m old(ish B) ) but I really don’t need them to adress me or cater me when selling the game or try and add stuff for oldish people. Actually I love playing young adults most. So it can’t be that. It’s that... tone. I don’t know. This atmosphere of fast and shallow and ‘happening’ and fashion and...., actually everything my two teens are not either. It’s not really an age thing at all. It’s the shallowness that’s written all over it I can’t stomach. This video for instance suggests depth, but it isn’t. I fully appreciate the people in that video are real and their emotions and feelings are, but those feelings and emotions in no way correspond with what this version has to offer. Which is why the comparable videos of the earlier games are so much better (filled with examples), have so much more substance.
