Can you get rid of the ghosts?

@Yardenro for city living, there is one lot With the ghost/Haunted lot trait I believe.
not encountered ghost who can't be deleted yet, but I avoid ghost night at bars like a sickness. that events triggers most ghost spawning

however, I meant that I have ghosts living (as in occupying) every single house and/or apartment that I'm not actively playing.
I don't do ghosts nights, I don't live in Haunted trait lots.
I just want to wipe out ALL the ghosts. at once.
isn't there a cheat of some sort? something? anything?

I don't use any kind of mod for culling, instead I remove ghosts myself.

If I run into a ghost out in the world and I don't want to see it roaming the world a second time I "shift-click" the ghost-sim and chose the option to add them to my family. Then it is easy to delete the ghost in "manage household". Think you have to turn on cheats in order for the "shift-click":ing to work but I'm not sure. Currently on my summer-vacation from gaming, once fall comes around I'll be back.

I'll swing around later on to see if this was clear enough, I will be happy to post pics if that would help.

I deleted tons of ghosts in Manage Households. But, the MCCC mod can delete all ghosts, vampires, aliens or whatever category you choose. It does tons of other useful functions as well.

If you can find their urns, you can release them into the Netherworld.

So, if an unplayed household elder dies, will they still show up in "manage households?" My sim's mom died and she still calls him to invite him out to the bar! It's strange and I don't like it. She still shows up in his relationships panel. She was a part of a "played household" but she doesn't live there anymore because she died. I didn't see her die so there's no gravestone. Should I select all those households I've got as "played" to "unplayed" so that the ghosts will clear themselves out?

I only have the base game and parenthood. I'm tired of deleting all the old sims in my game before they die. This is just a big question I have.

I totally relate. I've been googling ways to get rid of them as well. They are everywhere in my game and I can't stand them. There really should be an "allow ghosts" button or something in the settings. Not everyone enjoys them, least of all me.

TESTED FIX WITHOUT MOD:

So I see this is still an issue and here is a fix: Whenever you see a ghost, Shift click it (make sure testingcheats true) and add to family. Add all the ghosts to your family. This will effectively "unhide" their household without using a mod like MCCC. Then go to manage worlds and then under manage worlds move the ghosts into their own household and then delete that ghost household. This will delete their relationship with your family when you added them to your family and their relationship with any other sim in the game. Happy simming!

Thank you! @izbthnndgls that worked! I just wish it didn’t delete them from the family tree but whatever, I learned my lesson. family lives with family till they die and can be buried at the cemetery in Brindleton. Thank you!

If you don't witness their death, than ghosts have no urn/tombstone. That's the problem with that solution.

Actually, dead sims will leave urns or tombstones behind even if you don't see them die. I've found several that were left behind by deceased NPCs. They're not always easy to find though. If you knew the npc when alive, check the places they hung out at or their home, if they had one.

But if they die in a house, they might be outside the house, but they might be in the building inventory for that house. (It's more difficult if it's in the inventory. If it's outside, you can just click on it to get rid of their spirit right away.)

Of course, if you have the Magic expansion, your spellcasters can get spells to get rid of ghosts. But I'm guessing that most of the people who don't like the ghosts are probably not the type that would buy the magic expansion.
