Can you play two different versions of sims 4 on one pc?

Hi simmers <3

I was busy downloading Hogwarts legacy on steam when I saw that sims 4 is in the store over there too. I play my sims on now EA app (previously Origin) and have all of the packs in my game. But I was wondering what it would be like to play only the base game, you know, can plant anything because of no seasons, no occult's running around and just overall a new experience from what I am used to now. But I definitely do not want to mess up all of my current games. Do you guys know if it is possible, or will steam automatically detect that I have all the packs and install them anyways too ? Any help is greatly appreciated :)

  • @SimplyJen thank you that was very helpful, I am going to try that :)
@EmmaVane thanks, yes I will be trying that.
@mightysprite thanks so much for the screenies, I use EA app though, but I am sure an Origin user would love that <3

Thanks all of you, I am going to try doing that now, will let you guys know how it goes ;)

I only realize now how much I actually use each pack even ones I did not think I was using. But this is interesting playing base game only, much less choice so quicker customization LOL

Thanks all for your help <3
  • Yes. I’ve steam and ea. Just rename The Sims 4 folder in electronic arts/documents folder to something else before steam install in order to swap between the two versions.
  • Just move your other save files in another separate folder outside of the EA folder before playing only base game.
