Can't finish read 3 books requirement

It might be a fluke in the game that happened since the update last week

Have you tried sending the send to spend the day reading at the library instead of home. I have had better luck getting that accomplished at the library than my sims home libraries as I often choose that same Renaissance Aspiration - and almost always had issues with the third book. I finally always got that accomplished by doing the 3rd one by spending a full day at the library. Have them read a book they have not read at home - and make them keep reading it until they get the accomplishment.
