Can't follow sim to work help please

Update: I used the promote cheat to get her to the Senior Detective level (the next one) and I was able to join her at work the next workday. Use testingcheats on and the cheat is careers.promote detective. Also, when I turned on testing cheats there are some detective debug options on the sim menu. I tried debug new case event and I also reset her. I don't think that was the fix, I think it was the promotion but I wanted to include all my steps. She's got the right outfit now too.
