I didn't record til the drone was dead. Should I?
I had this once and it turned out the issue is that the drone (or your Sim if it's in his or her inventory) is too far from the video station.
To be sure it works, put the drone in your inventory, then click on the chair at the video station and say "Sit". After your Sim sits down, try again.
It is apparently especially common if the Sim is upstairs / downstairs from the video editing station.
