Carpets

Does anyone else wish we had more variety in the carpet floor patterns? I'm sure Sims 2 had many more options, and Sims 3, of course, enabled us to customise the patterns. I've got a couple of CC recolour patterns with a variety of colours but it still doesn't feel like a lot. I miss the variety of previous games.

Most people I know have carpets. Maybe it's a British thing? I don't know, but I do like the softness under my feet. Anyway, I have also noticed our choices are limited in TS4. Some more variety would definitely be nice.

Probably due to the rising damp. We even had carpets in the kitchen, bath and WCs in our house (which we replaced with tile - much better to grab a nice, dry towel from the warming bar when getting out of the bath than to step on a damp, mouldy carpet).

I actually didn't know carpet was so unpopular IRL! But then I walk around the house in bare feet when it's warm enough, so carpet is the most comfortable for that. It also avoids the issue of slipping if you're just wearing socks.

So many people hate on carpet, I don’t get it. I have hardwood, carpet, and tile in my home and carpet is probably the easiest to maintain IMO. I guess not if you have kids/pets, but in that case nothing is easy to keep looking good.

Hardwood is prone to scratching. If you have wood, you almost have to have an area rug under everything or you will have a damaged floor (and with how expensive wood floors are... yeah no). Area rugs are just as pricey these days for a decent quality one. I spent like $230 on my area rug, and it’s been a lifesaver for the floor. Carpet is also just cheaper to buy, and a lot more flexible. I spent forever looking for a wood floor that wouldn’t look out of place in my home, I picked out my carpet in like 10 minutes. Carpet is just so much easier.
  • i much prefer wooden floors to carpets these days but at least in the sims game you can decorate with anything you went to i tend to agree that more choices is needed in term of carpets for the sims4 but when it comes to decorating no players are the same

Yeah, the bathroom in my house is tiled and I like it better than having a carpet, but I am not a fan of anything else in the bedroom or living room.
