Well, Sims 3 rather than 4 but usually auburn hair for the guys, dark hair for the girls(usually black, brown, or red), relatively modest clothing for all(I hate those waist deep plunging necklines or really short shorts/skirts), and NEVER let them near the more extravagant makeup unless it is just temporary costume makeup they put on for a costume party or get at a festival's face painting booth.
