For $20 it made the most sense to pick it up, and it’s not terrible but definitely not worth $40.
The most disappointing part IMO is the lack of interactions with either Cats or Dogs. There’s a handful of generic interactions and that’s it. Pets are just kind of there, they can’t do a lot of things (that they should be able to) and some things are just poorly animated (playing fetch: ball pops from the ground to the dogs mouth.. in a AAA game that’s ridiculous). There’s a ridiculously small number of pet objects whether that be interaction objects or care objects like pet beds, food bowls, etc. dogs get the short end of the stick. Cats get a few more things, but most of it is nothing more than jumping around. Children have even fewer interactions with pets than adults, they can’t even take dogs on walks. I do not like how annoying dogs are. An untrained dog shouldn’t waltz over to the door and wine to go outside. If it’s smart enough to know it should be going outside then why do I have to instruct it to? Not a fan of the instruction setup, not possible to see what your dog has learned good or bad. Learning is heavily skewed already anyway. What happened to “Pets will be messy”? Because that, so far, has been the polar opposite of what’s happened.
As I said, for $20 it’s a steal. I would not pay $40 for this pack. After playing it my honest opinion is that they did focus way too much on areas that weren’t Cats or Dogs - and it shows with how little attention was given to either. CAP is neat, but I doubt I will use it that much. More things for dogs and cats to do would have been a much better use of those resources. The pack itself isn’t terrible, but it’s not an improvement over Pets EP’s in the past which offered a lot more for the same price.
It’s a 4/10 for me.
