Overall the statement is just a publicity stunt to say things are going well for EA. Doesn't actually let you know the how much they are making over the game or much less say anything about the quality of the product. It's just easy "marketing" it's nothing to lose a head over.
Other sites have said it was C&D that sold the highest, that article doesn't for some reason. Also, I wouldn't call it a publicity stunt. I'm pretty sure they can't lie when it comes to earning calls and such like that, because they can get in trouble with shareholders if they do. At least, that's what I was always told.
