Charisma and Cottage Living

Is everyone else's charisma through the roof?

It just occurred to me that while friendliness is always helpful in the Sims, it's pretty much a key aspect of everything in this pack. You have to befriend your chickens. You have to befriend the cows and llamas. You have to befriend the wild birds. You have to befriend the rabbits. You have to befriend the foxes. You have to befriend the villagers to complete many of the errands.

You have to befriend the bees and Patchy if you use them; although they aren't technically part of this pack, it's hard for me to imagine playing this pack without one or both of them.

I'm curious whether anyone's come up with any interesting gameplay ideas based on that. I mean, for example, I would think a Loner sim would find it *very* uncomfortable to be in this world. (Although, does anyone know whether interacting with the animals gives Loner sims that uncomfortable moodlet? If not, you could definitely play as a misanthrope who keeps their social needs high by talking only to the animals. (Which is basically what I imagine the Creature Keeper is!)

Yes, I’m playing an ex-criminal who became a police informant and moved to Henford-on-Bagley so the bad guys wouldn’t find him. He doesn’t trust any of the local inhabitants.

High Charisma actually allows you to ask for loans from sims that you never have to pay back. I think small loans are 500 and large are 2k.

You could make a moocher and basically live off of other people's generosity/gullibility.
  • I think it's the Animal Enthusiast trait that you need to make befriending farm and wild animals easier

No. You are correct, but that's not what I'm talking about.

My point is that almost every aspect of Cottage Living requires befriending either an animal or a human, or at least interacting with them extensively, and that quite naturally, through normal gameplay, that inevitably ends up raising the charisma level. That's not in any way exclusive to the Animal Enthusiast trait.

Also what I'm curious about is how this might have interesting effects on other aspects of gameplay.
  • True. My loner, bookworm spell caster sim makes his way through the world tho… now that I think about it I don’t really see him out and about in the worlds, it’s always his father, mother, or brother who are putting themselves out there.

He is shy, sort of awkward, but he will go out if he has too, but even he has high charisma. He has several close best friends outside of his family.

Otherwise he is the sort to be alone with his books.

It is strange tho, now I’m suddenly wondering it would be cool if, sims depended on other skills to befriend others.

    Build Mutual interests.

I have a mod where sims can socialize through their traits and skills, like evil sims can talk evil socials, good sims can talk more good socials, gardeners can talk all about gardening tips and tricks. I wish there were more magic socials. Like spellcasters can discuss Magic, but I wish they could also talk to humans and vampires about magic, and humans can ask a known spellcaster about magic.
