Chat With Civilians?

Anyone know how to do the "Chat With Civilians" task (Police Career)? I've talked with about 4 civilians, but this task never clears. Is there a specific interaction I'm supposed to do to clear this? I've tried Friendly Introduction, Get to Know, Ask About Career, and various other chatting interactions, but it never seems to clear this task. I'm thinking there's probably a specific option I should be choosing, but I'm not sure what that would be.

UPDATE: I'm not sure of the exact answer to my question, but just thought I'd update this to say that I finally cleared this task after talking with about 4 Sims. Not sure if the task just wants you to talk to a lot of people or if it cleared because I talked to that particular one for a long time. It's a little confusing. If anyone has any insight on this, that'd be great!

    You have to talk to a sim that walks into the police department, when they go to the front desk click on them and then you'll get the option "talk to civilian" with a gold badge by it.

    I think that's just for taking police reports from civilians.

    OP, make sure that whoever you're talking to has "Civilian" outlined in red over their name when you hover?

    yes this goal is achieved only by saying anything to them after greeting them. the take civilian report is done with any sim with the civilian tag on their name (when you hover over the sim) the take report is an actual option usually found on the main list but sometimes you have to go threw the friendly list. it will have the detective badge icon on it.

    Hmm interesting. I was out on patrol when I was attempting this. I didn't notice if the people I was talking to had the "civilian" status, but they probably didn't -- that was probably the issue. Thanks! :)

    I came to read the comments and actually completed the task 2 seconds after I unpaused game play. There were no tags stating anyone was a civilian. I just assumed they all were. I had to do it on patrol at a bar. I completed about 3 chat interactions with the same "civilian" I completed with.

    I talked to 4-5 non-police and said something after introductions, this is on patrol not back at station, and it cleared the tast

    I think after greeting the sim you have to select the get to know option in friendly for goal to clear
