- SEREFRAS3 years agoLegendI see the 3 Desert worlds that we already have in Sims 4 as different from each other. For example:
Oasis Springs is a Desert Mexico/Spain Town
DS Valley is a Desert LA small City
Strangerville is an Area 51 Town
As for the upcoming Desert World for what I’ve seen is so like Appaloosa Plains which will probably be like Colorado.? - crocobaura3 years agoLegend

Isn't LA at least near a desert, though? Serious question from someone who has never been outside of Europe. But in most shows and movies that take place in the LA area, a desert is usually not far away. And while I wouldn't call Del Sol Valley a desert world in the true sense of the word, my head does put it in the same general region as the true desert worlds, and the same will probably be true for Chestnut Ridge.
Speaking of which, I used to say that the new world will probably only have 12 lots again. But now that four game changers have built three lots each, which amounts to 12 in total, I'm hopeful there might be 14-15, if only because every world usually comes with at least one completely empty lot.
I believe LA has weather like southern Italy and Greece, it's mostly dry and sunny but it's not a desert. Also, every year they seem to have forest fires which implies that there are forests in the region. - dreaming223 years agoSeasoned Ace

Yep. They call that a Mediterranean climate. It’s pretty temperate along the coasts (I don’t in in LA county, but within several hours drive). We don’t really have forest fires as much as chaparral wildfires, but trees are not a scare commodity in SoCal.
One would have to travel east over the San Gabriel Mountains to get to the Mojave Desert (which is in Kern County so not “LA”) and Death Valley is located there too. "crocobaura;c-18281785" wrote:

LA resident here. This city is enormous and the climate varies from area to area. The more westward you go, the more coastal the climate, the more east, the more desert-like. The more north, the more forested/elevated. The more south, desert again.
In LA you are anywhere from 25 minutes to about 3 hours from all of the following:
Deep desert--like straight up Mojave
Mediterranean wine growing climate
Snow
Mountains
Forests- crocobaura3 years agoLegend

According to Google, Mojave desert is about 4 hours away by bus from LA, so I wouldn't exactly call it nearby, at least not near enough to call Del Sol Valley a desert world anyway.

The worlds in the last expansions are all similar to worlds we already have.
I really wonder why. There are so many possibilities!
Now we get the third (if we count Del Sol Valley in - fourth) north american desert world.
I don't mind this one since I am biased by my love for Strangerville and Strangetown
but I really hope that whatever world comes next is nothing too similar to what we already have I just feel like its about time we had other things besides suburban lawn
I feel like exactly because sims 4 is not open world we could be having so many cool fantasy and scifi worlds but why oh why is it the lawns- Alexai6293 years agoSeasoned Vanguard

Love the echoes of northern Arizona/New Mexico and southern Utah! My husband and I took a road trip holiday there a few years ago and absolutely loved it. But now I'm craving frybread. (If anyone wants to know, the best EVER burger is served on frybread from a truck in a village roughly southwest of Los Alamos.)
The world looks so much like southern Utah - one of my favorite places. I'm craving frybread too! I've eaten incredible frybread in New Mexico on several reservations. - wildirishbanshee3 years agoSeasoned AceFrybread - the closest thing I could get to a doughboy outside of my home state. Funnel cake is nasty, and not anything like a doughboy - frybread is, and often served the same, if not used in a meal. :) Thank you, Albuquerque NM, for finally having something to satisfy the craving.
- StorybookLady3 years agoSeasoned Ace@telemwill and @SheriSim57 Thank you very much for your replies on my question about the weather and seasonal changes in Arizona over in the speculating thread about horses. :)
Now that we have a special thread about the new world I thought I'd answer over here because it fits better.
I still hope that at least one neighborhood of Chestnut Ridge will have all four seasons including snow on the ground and autumnal tree colors. I would be SO HAPPY like a little child.
The world looks greener than I imagined, so that's good. :) I just need my beloved four seasons with flowery spring, sunny hot summer, colorful autumn and snowy winter to be happy. I love having the whole seasonal experience. - Ziafar3 years agoSeasoned AceI like that too since we have it less and less IRL
