Child Living Alone

I tried to find any threads that already covered this topic, but did not find much.

After some trial and error, I am doing a fairly good job of handling the issues that arise when a child lives alone.

I was able to download a finished treehouse from the gallery and also have a sleeping bag in my inventory. For trash I had to keep repurchasing a new trash when adults knocked it over, but now I am trying a dumpster. For the bathroom, I used the camping bathroom and so far it does not need to be repaired. For food, I have a cooler and the selling table from Jungle adventures.

She has an inventory of a journal, soccer ball, a bike, a yarny toy and a knitting basket, a yoga mat and a meditation stool.

I started the child with an adult and had the adult read to her for 2 hours, before deleting him, so she could finish the rest of that aspiration. I finished all the aspirations except the slumber party, which appears to repeatedly need an adult.

I learned to hire a caterer at a community kitchen and store all the food in the fridge until it is finished and then take some of it home to store in the Jungle Adventures table. I can also store a pizza and delivery for a few days in the table. I can bag food from the festivals and that lasts about a day in the table. I finally figured out that I can use a microwave. The university has some good food available when there is no keg in the dining hall.

If I make sure the lot is offgrid and keep the inventory and cash low enough, there are no bills. I could not get the no bills cheat to work.

She can garden after she got her mental skills up. I think it needed to be a 5. I bought a scarecrow to kill the bugs. Even after befriending the birds, I do not see the option to have them help garden. The birds can eat the bugs? The rabbits have such a short lifespan it is not worth befriending them for gardening help.

I did not see an option to hire a maid or butler.

Fishing is a good activity. I need to explore knitting and violin to make money. There is a youtube video online of a child uploading reviews to make money. I have seen a toddler collect seashells.

I am waiting to explore the drama club and fame for a child alone.

If I age down a teen werewolf, it is a dormant wolf child and she can use the underground bunker below the bar. If I set the full moon to every 4 days, she can swim after 8 o'clock and get full energy on those nights, which lets me get caught up. Those were helpful discoveries.

I am interested in hearing anyone else's experiences with a child that lives alone.

  • I don't think we can build the wellness skill even though we can "like" it and use wellness objects.

A child can eat holiday grand meals at the universities. She seems to be able to enter the dorms and hang out there and even sleep in the beds.

I don't know if all children can explore the underground tunnels in Moonwood Mills, but my dormant wolf child can do that.

She can build vampire lore skills. I started another thread on that topic, as it also applies to children that are not living alone.
  • I only play vanilla on my PC. However, I can have a Teen with a Child live without an Adult. ;)
  • I only play vanilla on a PC, too. I do use cheats, but no cc or mods. I am not sure if it required the cas.fulleditmode cheat to create the shift-click menu option to remove the adult.
  • There is a new video up on this topic.

If you use the gnome lot trait, the gnomes repair all appliances at about 3 in the morning. So far, my child alone hasn't broken anything. It is just adults that break my stuff.

If you are eating your dinner at the university, the students will help you learn to ride a bike and will help you do your projects.

Eating the grand meals at the university works, but I have not been able to do anything there about Christmas presents. A child alone can GIVE Christmas presents though and can ask Father Winter for a present. Children are prefectly happy with this.

No adults have turned over a dumpster, so far. If you leave out broken things that are found in the dumpster, the gnomes fix them overnight, but do not clean them.

If you use the dollhouse, you can write a children's book afterwards. Even with mods, I have not been able to publish the book though. Only with mods can you build the writing skill. Even with mods, I have not been able to build the writing skill with any kind of notebook, or use it to write the book. A computer is needed to write the book.

ClaudiaSharon mod Kids can Gain Painting and Writing Skills. My child was only able to gain writing skills with books and a computer. She wrote a bestseller after multiple tries, but could only get $250 if she sold it.

Children can harvest plants and replant, water, and weed them with a level 6 mental skill, but cannot build gardening skill without a mod. My goal is to build the mental skill level high enough to take advantage of the first Spice festival and Romance Festival harvestables. I use 14 day seasons, so can sometimes get one or two harvests of my own before the season changes. I prefer to use the birds rather than the scarecrow to keep the bugs under control. Children cannot spray for bugs. Sometimes I just plant a plant, knowing that I will only get two harvests before it dies from bugs.

If you are going to use mods, you can hang the fork food spawner behind the bars, so that children can get free food there.

There is a mod that makes a cooler store food, but if the repo man takes the cooler, some the mod is left behind and things get weird.

I think this might be the link to the cooking mod that I liked best. The Zulf mod has less stretching than the sparklimari mod, at least for me.

The Zerbu All worlds are Residential mod allows children to travel alone to Granita falls and meet the Hermit and catch bugs and harvest the herbs.

There are some mods that allow you to add more scars to children.

Ilkavelle and BossladyTV have aspiration mods for kids.
