About seasons, its a bit bugged. You can turn off the temperature effects in the Seasons tab of the game options. But otherwise to answer your question, theres a few things you can do that could help.
First, know the system, its overly simplified, which is the problem. It goes Freezing+99, Cold+1, Neutral, Hot+1, Heat Stroke+99. Only 5 levels to it, so you can go from fine to dying really quick. Im not sure how long it takes to die from it, but its not that long. Longer than burning to death or drowning, but less than starving to death in an empty room.
Install a thermastat, you can make it hotter or colder in your place pretty easy with that.
When your hot, drink a glass of water from any sink if you can.
1 cup of coffee or tea will warm you up by one degree, you can die if you drink 3.
Be very careful about running through sprinklers outside in your swimsuit, thats 2 cold points.
A lot of things that you think probably cool you down or warm you up, probably does.
Taking a bath or shower however doesnt seem to neutralize you even tho the moodlet color attaches to it and seems to suggest it would.
Exercising can prevent you from freezing to death, just make sure not to end your run outside...
Until EA fixes it, and it's been this way since Seasons first released, Id consider disabling it or finding a mod to disable dying from temperature. Id link you to one, but Im still restricted.
