As far as I can tell the coloured eggs can be used for specific recipes or for making animal treats. I'm slowly unlocking the recipes for the animal treats. Seems you have to purchase or acquire the treat first, then use it on an animal, which will then unlock the recipe so you can start making them yourself. I'm on a mission to produce evil and gold chickens but my sim hasn't come across the recipes or the treats for these yet.
