I have a mod installed that is supposedly fixing this but I am going to remove it because it causes other problems instead. Also, I am not sure what problems are vanilla bugs and what are caused by the mod trying to fix those bugs:
1. If it is cold outside, Sims often (even though thermostat is turned on Hot) switch into Cold clothing when waking up. Indoors. But as soon as they start an activity they change. A typical example: Sim wakes up, switches to Cold clothes, walks down to the kitchen, and when triggering "grab leftover", he changes clothes to normal.
2. The above behavior causes near-deaths, because they also change to normal outfits when starting an activity outdoors, like BBQ-ing. Standing in the snow, then changing to every day wear to start grilling. In the snow.

Same here! I had the mod you speak of and it just made things more complex. *crosses fingers for fix tomorrow*
