Collectibles

I was thinking that when my Sim is rich I would build display room and put them all on display.
Currently they mostly sit in my Sim's inventory too and I use a couple for mood or decor.

If I could go around the town and dig up stuff irl I would totally do so, since I too am a collector, lol

@sirguylittle , love that idea. Kind of like a mini museum you can visit anytime.

I normally make a sim collect certain stuff in a way to match their personality. I might have a sim collect only certain minerals or certain fish, trying to connect it to some personal backstory or agenda. Selling off everything that don't fit the bill. This way I avoid filling the entire house with collectibles. And - it's nice decorating a home in such a personal way. Using some shelves or display table, perhaps in a room dedicated to this hobby/obsession. It might become a household routine or tradition, for future generations to bring on.

I avoid storing collectibles in inventories, and I don't use the collect lists to check that I found everything in a certain collection, either.

PS: Collectibles can be good gifts to others.

In one save, I have a sim with the geek trait, and she complains if she goes even a day without digging up something, so it's really piling up.

How do you gift collectibles?

I have one family that thru out subsequent generations have pretty much collected everything. I made a huge room in the basement for their display.
I don’t do it anymore as it’s too much. I mostly let sims collect based on their personality and I don’t even bother with many, I just sell it.

Mostly sell them but i keep a few for environment, a small focusing element cube on each desk and the kids keep void critters

I usually only save them for display if it matches the sim personality to do so. Even then I rarely go for displaying a full collection. If they have a special display case or can be grouped without taking too much room I'll sometimes try like the easter egg collection or sugar skulls.
But even for fisherman I wouldn't try to hang all the fish up... there just isn't room.

I have all my collectibles in the basement. My sims has completed them all except for the ones from Island Living.

How do you gift collectibles?

Anything in a sim's inventory can be gifted. The action is under Friendly and I think it's called Friendly Gift. Then you will choose item from inventory. Not sure what pack this feature came with, or if it's been patched to base game.

I haven't seen that action, so it must be from a pack. I only have Get to Work.
