Collectibles

I wish there was a reward for completing each collection, like that owl we get after colecting all the feathers. Since we don't, my collectibles become simoleons 99% of the times.

depends some of them I use as decorations in various ways, my scientist has a vault with all his crystals and metals in it and a underground "garden" where he also keeps his frogs and the aliens in his lab. His family also collects the space- and microscope prints I think they make up almost all the walldecor of the home.
I just build a house+cave for another sim using the JA relics as decorations on the roof, arround the garden and inside the house.

my herbalist has butterflys and bees from outdoor retreat sitting on her flowers inside the house (using MOO and resizing to make it look that way) and has a basement "magical garden" where she also has alot of aquariums keeping all the fishies (not done with that collection yet).
but I also use crystals, plants, frogs and fishes and so on for bait, serums, cooking....
I want to make a museum for the JA relics combined with the IL treasures too.

I think it's from seasons, cause there are holidays with gift giving traditions.

I'm building a museum! ...So yes, my main might have a collectables problem, haha. Going to get all the shelves set up for the museum, then pop everything back in his inventory and have him bring them over, and place them. He has no more room in his study!!

If the Museum is on community lot, be aware that kleptomaniacs might steal a few items. Might be fun to discover that something is missing, but perhaps trying to lock in those most valuable treasures, somehow?

I'm glad I don't have to actually keep them in inventory or lot to complete collections.
I use the cool ones for display and decor, like JA artifacts or space stones.
And sell the rest.

All good, I have a mod from LittleMsSam that lets you lock out kleptos! (The Gender & More - Custom Lot Trait one.) I have a household with a klepto member, so I just have to make sure not to actually go there with him.

I've found that some of the metals and crystals can be useful later (you can use crystal samples to get the microscope pictures, and you need crystals for the JA relics). I've perfected every harvestable, so I keep a couple of those on hand. I don't keep fish, except for the expensive ones that can be used for fertiliser, and I've never managed to get all the bugs from OR.

What annoys me is that I have complete collections in the treasure chest or around the house, but the collections tab continually forgets that I've got them all in my legacy save.

This for me as well. Also, I figure if they have a little museum room in say...the basement, then any future sims that need completed collections maybe it will help them. So far I've never had to see if that worked in any save or not for the collector aspiration or if they have to find new ones because I've never had to repeat that aspiration before but I save them anyway.
