Combo Simple Living + Off the Grid?

I have not yet read a lot about the combo of these two lot challenges. Are they too hefty in combination, or is it common to use both?

I've set them for the Cordelia cottage which is quite far off the grid, and I wanted Simple Living for the entire Bramblewood. Did not play that Cordelia lot yet and now I wonder if it might get too hard. If off-the-grid will include recycling and other ECO aspects, there might not be enough hours of the day?
  • James Turner has a series with Chaz BigWallet that started as rags to riches in Cottage Living. He eventually starts to use the items from Eco Living, including recycling, to lower his bills on his farm. Don't think it is off the grid though, but might give you an idea of management time adding those items to your farm. He does seem to get lag at times and his poor sims are exhausted! Lol He has his brother helping and Patchy but he also has alot of gardening, so watching might give you some ideas. I plan to eventually add this to my game as well as making fizzle juice.:)
  • So I have a question about Simple Living since you can't cook without ingredients what if your sim owns the Hot Pot From Snowy Escape what are the ingredients required to make those dishes?
  • I wasn't able to use the hot pot with the simple living lot trait. Removed it and my sim was able to prepare the three meal options. No ingredients required.

    I know thanks @simgirl1010 <3
I was just wondering why if its a food option does it not work on the simple living lot trait is all and what the ingredients would be if you could use it with that lot trait.
  • I played it with my last sim, it is a lot of fun, but very challenging which I enjoy. I actually now put simple living challenge to all households to make the ingredients matter and feel more immersive. I also start most of my game with 500 simoleons and I play with SNB bills mod, so I have a couple who have bought an empty cottage and are now off the grid, once they make enough money I will get rid of the off the grid challenge and let them pay for electricity, etc. :)
I think it is a lot of fun that gives me some purpose for them to get promoted in their jobs. These are the things I really appreaciate.
  • My off the grid lot in Sulani is also simple living. The only thing they need power for is the laptop and they run two windmills for that. Their water comes from two dew collectors. They grow some food, have a few chickens but no cow. Llama instead.
  • My concern is basically to try avoiding adding too muck on one same lot, as I play 100+ households and it would be better for me to spread the features to keep them all interesting. I played off-the-grid before, but because I often stop in each house for just one simday, I assume I have not yet seen them at their worst ;) It's always possible to live on garden salad if it's just for one day. Perhaps the challenge works better when playing the same lot for longer.

No idea about the Hot Pot as I don't own SE.
