I had this exact same experience after not being able to play from 2015-2023. almost a decade.

coming back was like discovering a completely different game, especially because this time i was able to use mods and got most of the dlcs

it really is overwhelming nowadays! i don't even use a majority of the features bc i just don't know they exist or don't know how to
