Computer glasses help needed

I was finally able to have my computer science major make the computer glasses, but now I can't get them off of him. I looked on the Answers site for tips and it said that it was fixed in a patch and that they'll be removed when the sim goes to another lot, so I had my sim take his dog to the vet. Well, he's still wearing the computer glasses, as they never came off.
I also read that the robotic arm being equipped will help remove the computer glasses. Is this true? How could having the robotic arm affect the computer glasses?
Please help.
