Conservationist Career - Missing Clean Up Area

No, the career is a rabbit hole. If you choose to "work at/from home" it will give you tasks to complete but they might not be to clean up trash. I have a mermaid Conservationist and she only sees piles of trash to clean up occasionally, mostly from the neighborhood with the volcano.

The trash is confined to the neighborhood with the volcano, and you will find it on the beach and some of the pathways near the waterfall & cave. You will also find it in the ocean near the coastline in this same neighborhood, along with the water being greenish in spots away from the volcano (the green water right near the volcano is decorative only), when you click these spots you will have the option to take and test samples, somewhere around level 3 or 4 of the career.
