I know, I know there are theee separate teams but that I think is a problem. Graham has said we can’t get sleeping bags nor bunk beds in a stuff pack so we are dependent on game packs of expansions to deliver. I hate paying for jigsaw puzzle pieces. Give me the jigsaw!
Amd I agree about your feelings about the game, I’ve been there for a while. I come back every so often, load up the game, play for at most 30 minutes and then go and play something else. It doesn’t captivate me the way I would expect and I loathe the dlc model. No offence to anyone that enjoys it.
I also agree that certain themes and patterns are being repeated all the time.
I hate to say this but they are trying to get more money from us. The constant breaking up content in other packs and recycling of objects and features is less work for them and the most money we have to pay. I'm just tired of it all really. Every pack dissapoints as a whole. Every pack has it's nice building items that I would like to have, but I have to restrain myself because the packs are all very expensive and I don't want to support this behaviour of releasing half-finished dlcs.
Absolutely they are. Not saying I agree with i though! I know they are a business but this isn’t a practice I think that is in the best interest of the consumer. I can’t even say that under this model we are getting a ton of new game play to make it worth the money. But to each their own.
Well, it also doesn't help the fact that many of the consumer base want themes from older games translated into the latest iteration of the series (like Seasons) and so you'll probably get what you wanted but gutted out and separated into multiple different packs that tackle a certain portion of the overarching theme and then accentuate it to give the appearance that you're paying for your money's worth.
Also add to that it also cannot be just like it was done before. It all has to be different - and that is part of the issues - if all the great ideas were already used - that seriously limits what a new version can include. In repeated ideas it will always feel to be missing a lot because we had it before and now we don't - just because of the no copying rule they have to work under. The very things that upset a lot of players with C &D as it being missing - was actually a case of not being allowed to repeat exactly any of pets ideas done before.
Seems in order to make people happy with repeats pack types and know it is going to make people unhappy when it is not like it has been before is to not expect anything that came before - as they can't repeat. Maybe we all need to find new ideas and stop asking for past things if we want a lot more new things.
The no copy rule makes sense from a business perspective yes, but I also do agree with @NickSims in that they really need to improve with the latest iteration of a series compared with the previous one or you can't really say it was a success. TS4 as it stands currently has had a mix of either great or terrible. Sure, I think toddlers and vamps have gotten major improvements in TS4 from their previous versions, but that's really all I could think of off the top of my head of what they really improved on successfully from their previous games, and even then it took awhile for those great improvements to happen. I'm still unsure about TS4 pets though; unsure if that was more improved than previous pets in the series. Also not to mention that TS4 had a terrible start in the beginning but that's another discussion.
