Contrary Traits and Aspirations--Could Be Fun?

I was actually thinking this could be a fun "mini-challenge" of sorts: play a sim with a trait that directly contradicts their aspiration, and then try to complete the aspiration anyway. So--

  • A Lazy sim with the Bodybuilder aspiration.
  • A Good sim with the Public Enemy aspiration.
  • A sim who Hates Children with any of the family aspirations.
  • A Non-Committal sim with the Soul Mate aspiration.
  • An Evil sim with the Friend of the World aspiration.
  • A Loner with the Party Animal Aspiration.
  • An Unflirty Sim with the Serial Romantic aspiration.

That's what I've thought of so far. I haven't play tested with any of these, but I thought it could be an interesting challenge, and I'd be intereested to hear any experiences you've had with this sort of thing!

If I were to make it an official challenge, I probably say you can't buy any reward traits until completing your first aspiration. And if you're really ambitious you could try doing more than one at once--make a whole family of contrarians!

    • That's a fun challenge!

On a side note, I have a vampire Sim with a sun resistance, but, has a day phobia... :D
    • I occasionally do things like that on a lower scale, for example I have a maid in my game that is lazy and squeamish and always complains when she has to take the trash out, and right now I'm trying to find a boyfriend for my unflirty loner. Whether or not this is actually fun depends on the sim and the player, but it is definitely challenging, to say the least. :D

Another idea would be to give a squeamish sim a nature-related aspiration like Curator or Outdoor Enthusiast, good luck making them dig in the dirt and collect insects all the time. >:)
    • I already did number 1, 3 and 4. Number 2 would work better with a sims having the compassionate trait instead of the good one, because the good trait has the only effect to make the sim happy if he's around a sim with a positive emotion or sad if around evil sims, the compassionate one really make the said sim tense if he acts bad. Hates children doesn't have much of a power regarding the sim's own children, it only gets harder to build friendship with them since they really love to crush children dreams, the best aspiration to pair to make a challenge out of this would be the one that requires to befriend three children. Unflirty sims are hard to flirt with, but have no real problem to flirt with others, they are mostly hard to romance.
    • I've played with mismatched traits and aspirations quite a few times. Squeamish + Angling Ace was fun/sometimes annoying to play lol. I've used Hates Children + Unflirty with one of the Family aspirations more than once and it's always a fun challenge.

Really? My unflirty Sims always have the worst time wooing others. Maybe they just have bad luck lol.

They get the alluring trait if you give them a romantic aspiration in cas, this makes the unflirty trait pointless.
    • I have a sim do 1. It may relatively hard because he always has Excrutiatingly Fatigued instead of Good Workout when had not high fitness skill. He wants to keeping fit but hate activity. I think if has weak trait 1 maybe more interesting
2 and 5 are fake villain and hypocrite ;)
BTW if have parenthood and have a sim who has mean trait and compassionate, you can see a tsundere
    • I keep thinking about doing things like that but usually it only happens if I'm randomising traits.
    • I have an unflirty sim with the soulmate aspiration. His backstory is that his mother's dying wish was for him to find a wife/husband to carry on the family line with, since he's the heir to a business empire and lives in a San Myshuno penthouse. It's been quite fun to play out, he has an on-again off-again boyfriend and their romance bar fluctates because of his varying reactions to the romance interactions. that kinda rhymed

Not entirely. Sims will be more easily attracted to them but when your sim tries to reciprocate they still fail miserably. :D
