- Superstara1402 years agoSeasoned AceHow would Discord be controversial though? My source pretty much confirmed the news will have nothing to do with Discord server. I guess we have to wait and see. According to them, the news will arrive this week (this week starts Oct 23rd).

It's most likely an official Discord for the Sims 4, which I think it totally rad.
It will open up a lot more options. Phone calls and video are possible plus a lot more.
I was thinking the other day prior how there isn't one prior, because I am already on so many discords of Simmers streamers and content creators.
Yes , most likely it is an official Discord server, maybe. :)
If it is, I am not envying all moderators there :p based on how wild live chat is always in streams and trailers... :D
Needing lots of popcorn :p
My source stated that how would a Discord server be controversial, so I believe it won't be the case. It is something else, unfortunately... - Superstara1402 years agoSeasoned Ace

I don't think I'd join a discord for The Sims as I find simmers in the wild to be nasty. I really only participate here on the forum and in low-sodium simmers on Reddit. I love the game and dislike scrolling through tons of game bashing.
You raise a good point, a Discord would be awesome.
They said the exact opposite but ok? (well, while I do understand the concerns many players have with this game, to a lot of Simmers TS4 is a safe space and an escape from the hectic real world/life, so not everyone wants to deal with even more negativity in the digital world) - Karamazov1232 years agoSeasoned Ace

They said a Discord could be wild, nasty and full of bashing. That sounds awesome - Discords are usually littered with trolls.

Are you trolling at this point? This makes me upset. - crocobaura2 years agoLegendI don't think moderators will allow drama there, they will probably keep the same standards as for the forums. As for trolls, I'm pretty sure I've spotted a few even on these forums.
- My question right now is, are the news supposed to be controversial for the community or for the game itself? What I mean is, any change in EAs social media presence wouldn't affect my enjoyment of the game itself. At the very worst they could shut down the forums, but then I could still play my game and get news and engage with simmers elsewhere.
If the controversial news were about the game itself, that would be much more anxiety inducing. Now that EA app forces us to periodically go online we cannot just ignore an update we don't like for months. - cb2342z2 years agoSeasoned AceI noticed that Brickset (a pretty well-known Lego community and database I've been a member of for ages) was moving its forum to Discord as well. What's interesting here is that the Sims Forums and the Brickset Forum were the only two that I was on that used Vanilla Forums for its software/hosting.
I'm a member of various Discords as they are the official means of communication for a number of mods, indie games, and software projects that I've messed with over the years. Quite frankly, I don't really like it. Hard to find older stuff, and not as well organized. I prefer a more or less traditional forum compared to Discord and Reddit. - Is it possible that they are moving the Sims forums to the Electronic Arts forums?
Because I have had a lot of trouble getting to the Sims forums lately. Whenever I used to search for it on Google, I just typed in Sims forums, and it pops up. But now, it just comes up with Electronic Arts forums. I had a lot of trouble finding this website at all.
I could potentially see them moving to discord also, but it wouldn't surprise me if they completely transition to the EA Forums instead.
