I've tried this maybe 5 times in total with no success. Tried with different households in different kitchens and I usually try to get the parents of a family to cook together. They usually don't even react, so I don't even get one Sim to start cooking. I don't think its a kitchen counter issue though as I have also tried this in kitchens with plenty of counter space. I gave up on this but would absolutely love for my parent to be able to cook with their children.
