The ability to move Sims in and out of households without mods or cheats. It's rather ironic, but even though the game originally had a more YA, party-social focus, it's actually much easier for family-style players to play. You no longer have to spend all your time befriending ten Sims to get out of the mail room, and relationships don't decay the way they did in the past. (I'd get notifications that a husband and wife, who ate dinner together and slept in the same bed, were suddenly no longer friends because they hadn't been social enough with one another.)
