I'm actually really looking forward to having a couple of households do the simple living challenge, so that I can try out the gameplay of having them farm hard through the autumn and then have to live on their canned goods, primarily, for the whole winter. I just need to make sure I start theme early enough in the sims year to prepare for that.
I also think that not being able to farm (crops) year-round could be a good way to minimize the extent to which farming might make them get too rich too quickly.
