- It’s on sale for half price right now, worth it. The CAS and BB items are perfect. No career opportunities but it adds more for gardening and raising farm animals.
Forgot to add the world is beautiful - One of my favorite packs. And really fun and immersive when combined with Horse Ranch. Here are a few threads that might help with your decision.

- atreya33Seasoned AceCottage living is a great pack. You don't get career opportunities but you can earn money by farming. You can do errands for the locals to earn a bit on the side.
What I like about the pack:
- a new world: Henford on Bagley. It has 12 lots devided over 3 neighbourhoods. It is a green rural world with a little village. you can swim in the ocean, buy groceries at the village and get a 64x64 lot
- the animals: chickens, cows and llamas. Cows and llamas are tied to the shed while chickes can roam the neighborhood freely. They look really cute and are a lot of work
- the cross stitching: a new hobby for my sims with the option to stitch from reference. The pack also offers nice integration with nifty knitting. You can use llama wool to reduce the cost and you can knit animal clothing
- the simple living lot challenge: you actually need the ingredients to cook. No more magically filled fridge.
- furniture for historical or cottage builds
It has become one of my favorite packs - MaggieMae7276Seasoned RookieCottage Living in one of my favorite packs. I enjoy having my sims farm and live a self-sustaining life! I really love the animals (even the foxes!) as do my sims. Having a farm with the animals, gardening, canning and items from Seasons (Patchy the scarecrow and the bee hives) adds even more. Add items your sims make from the wool with count cross stitching and knitting (if have the knitting pack) and they have even more to sell, so who needs a job? It is also a great place to ride horses as the neighborhood is beautiful, so I add horses to the farm as well as the goats and sheep. Items from other packs work well with it too. I often use the windmill and water collector from Eco Lifestyle to save on the cost of the farm. Cottage Living adds a lot of gameplay to my sims, and a lot of challenge and fun!
- manicobsessive1Seasoned NewcomerI ADORE Cottage Living! It's the only pack I have ever bought on the day of release. There isn't a career as such, but you can make plenty of money gardening and canning etc.
- Kimmer_oneRising TravelerIt's definitely worth getting. Beautiful world, great CAS and lots of new gameplay options. I love all the animals and also Crumplebottom sisters come with the pack. :)
- EneroDesyembreNew SpectatorIt's pretty great and it adds a world that isn't a nightmarish concrete jungle. I don't think you can really get much out of it from a career-based gameplay point of view though, unless you like farming crops/taking care of animals and prefer to play on larger lots to really make use of said features.
- SheriSimSeasoned HotshotI love that Henford on Bagley has so many big lots for farm animals and growing crops. Also, they are dirt roads in the country. It’s a good place to add fishing holes too. There are some areas that I think would be great for spell casters too, kind of out of the way places.
There are 2 or 3 swimming spots on the river, one I believe is in town, which is small and quaint, and they have contests for farm animals, crops, etc. on the weekend. Another swimming spot is up by the waterfall.
The simple living lot trait is one of the best traits they ever came up with if you want to give your sims a challenge.
You can own a cow, a llama, and chickens. There are also rabbits, foxes, and birds you can become friends with. Rabbits will help you garden, You can use or sell eggs, wool, and milk. You can farm new crops like watermelon, pumpkin, lettuce, and a few others. You can do embroidery, and make canned foods, to sell or use. And of course there is simple country clothing and hairstyles. There are new traits, and possibly a new aspiration or 2. And, of course some new furniture. I love the new fireplace. There is new pub food as well. Also, the pack introduces a stand in town that sells and buys produce, eggs, milk, etc. In cottage living you can also buy things like sugar, flour, mayonnaise, etc. it also has picnic baskets you can fill, and use to go on a picnic at a picnic table.
Farming can take a lot of time, but if you have extra time you can run errands for neighbors to make money.
The pack integrates well with the new Horse Ranch pack as well, and Henford on Bagley has some good size lots you could use to put horses on as well. I just put a rabbit stump on a commercial lot I made for Chestnut Ridge ( Horse Ranch ), and it is so cute to see the bunnies come out, so you can talk to them.
I think Cottage living is well worth buying. - Its one of my favorite packs. I love the simple living trait and how it makes cooking etc more realistic, and the canning, making jam, collecting eggs from the chickens and milk from cows to cook with. And the animals are so cute! Its one of the packs I would definitely recommend.
