Country kitchen kit vs cottage living kitchen

When kits were released, I was tempted to get the country kitchen set because it looks very nice. However I didn't think it was worth the price of half a stuff pack. After seeing the cottage living trailer, I am glad I didn't. I'm planning on getting the new pack, not just for the kitchen of course. I find the two kitchens very similar in style. While I think the country kitchen set looks a tad bit better, I think the one from cottage living will do for my more rustic build. I personally feel no need to have both. I think if these kitchens were released in reverse order, there would have been comments on 'why wasn't this in the EP?'

What do you guys think? Do you think they are similar? Similar enough to say you don't need both?

  • This is no different to the basegame counters that are very similar to the ones that came with the vampire and realm of magic pack. Plus the new smeg fridge is very similar in style to the fridge that comes with jungle living. This is just an observation I have no strong feelings either way on this issue. I prefer the country kitchen set more as I love the gingham print in the design.

This! I own a late Victorian home with most of the original woodwork intact, including some of the doors. Every hinge had been painted over, and doorknobs too -- with fresh layers if they changed the paint colour at some point. The only exposed wood, too, was indoor flooring. I think there are local rich-people's homes (mine was a lived in by local workers) that might have had more exposed wood and metal, but for the average person, the quality of those things wasn't as high and the paint was protective. For the record, I left it that way, and replacement wood, like the porch, gets a paint job too. The paint over the brickwork outside, however we did get rid of -- it was probably full of lead and was flaking (bad combination!), but it did preserve the brick through years of pollution from local factories!

My other take: There's never too many kitchen things. Every Sim house deserves just the right stuff :)

Sometimes people do it on purpose because it's a look they like. I've never done it intentionally, but sometimes it happens at the end of a redecorating project when you're wiped out.

The last time I painted the bathroom, I even accidentally painted over a couple of the outlets. There were... profanities. :D

I'm actually ok with electrical outlets being the same color as the walls, as long as they're the plain ones. It helps them blend in more and be less of an eyesore. I guess it's down to personal preference.

Also, I agree with @luthienrising, sims can never have too many options, in my opinion.
  • They’re very similar and I wish one of them would have been more toned-down and versatile looking. Both of them can mostly only be used in very specific builds, I would have preferred to have one that I could use in any build.
  • Honestly looking at both kitchen sets side by side makes me so happy, both look stunning and I appreciate the variety even with the same style. I haven't purchased either pack yet though, but eventually I will, I know I'm going to enjoy using both very much.
