I don't know if people downloaded bad CC or accidentally converted the pattern that makes CASt hang. I had no issue for the game to render properly. I never had any crashes on my old basic laptop with Sims 3 and few EPs. I understand people don't like CASt and open world for lagging but if they knew how to maintain their game and their computer well maybe they wouldn't have so much complaints about it.. I don't know what problems people experience based on the game itself or their computer specs. It's all about what people prefer anyways.
