Create a way to get babies/kids back from Social Services

I almost lost my baby last night because my game was being weird. The baby was STILL SLEEPING and I got a message saying if I didn't feed my baby soon she would be taken away. like how was I supposed to know?! Usually they wake up and cry when they need something but this baby just slept. then when the mother sim fed her it still showed the Z's on the crib. I ended up aging her up because i figured it was a glitch but it would be nice if there were a way to get them back. would be more realistic.
