I now have a small mudroom in my sims new house, leading from the garden before anyone goes into the dining area:

I'm still miffed about the no shoe sign though... 😉

The mudroom is great! 🙂Very nice furnishing using items from the kit. The shoes are a nice family home touch beside the door.
