Curved walls feedback

First off I think the introduction of curved walls is neat. It’s something a lot of people have requested and it’s cool to see it implemented. That being said I can’t help but feel the execution, sparing bugs and glitches, is… kinda bad.

From what I can tell none of the previously released windows or doors have any added curvature or updated meshes to conform to the curved walls. There are a handful of compatible options, and those just seem to be assets that didn’t look awful without modification and still have noticeable overhang. Meanwhile windows that come in the new pack appear to have additional curvature to actually morph to the wall properly.

I get that updating every window and door is a big undertaking but how does management green light a feature like curved walls while denying the functional requirement of updating doors and windows to actually work with them? I don’t see the point in patching this function into the base game while the truly compatible assets are still locked behind a $40 purchase.

Are all future windows and doors going to be properly compatible with the curved walls? Are base game + other dlc windows being updated to be compatible? I think the developers backed themselves into a corner here and I think this feature will end up falling to the wayside out of the expense of upkeep.
  • My personal experience is that it is harder, and sometimes frustratingly so, but fully possible to build with the curved walls. As for windows and doors, you just have to choose the ones that the game says fits. What I did find was a roofing issue, which I have solved by creating rounded platforms as balconies above my rounded walls. Larger is easier than smaller rooms, overall, and you have to be careful where you place furniture as they can sometimes be hard to pick up again. The flooring is also important, only some floors look right in a round room.

So, yes, it could have been done better, smoother and simpler with fewer issues. But no, it's neither impossible or improbable - just a bit difficult and needlessly frustrating.

Some of my curved wall builds can be found here:

  • They’re so glitchy!! Also round platforms are basically unusable on an upper floor since there’s a weird glitch with the floor under them.

I love the new Curved Walls, especially considering I only play vanilla on my PC. So happy about this new build feature. I've now build 2 round circular homes so far & saved them in the Gallery under my username SEREFRAS.
  • I love the idea, I'm just waiting for them to work out the bugs.
I'm working on a 3 tier birthday cake house and I had to take a break from it. Round walls are too buggy to perfect my house.
The flooring doesn't always meet the walls and there are a ton of bugs to work out.
  • And you can't place additional round rooms on top of platforms. Platforms are the only work around to putting a balcony on top of a round room. I want a balcony on each cake layer. I can't wait until they update it more. I was disappointed that the last update didn't fix round room bugs, but I know they're doing what they can. They'll get to it eventually and I'm being impatient lol.
  • I am having trouble creating a round platform base for a bed inside a room. When I place the round platform to the corner the walls disappear of course, but when I try to replace the walls I lose the round platform and it becomes square. It's frustrating because I have a bedroom build in mind and just cannot make it happen

The walls are still glitchy. Is EA working on fixing this? They don't seem to show that they acknowledge this issue. I would like to use the round/curved walls but I can't with this glitch.

So I finally updated after the aging fix. Is this a bug or is it only happening to me? When I place a curved room I get this ceiling glitch. The only way I can get rid of it is if there is another floor with walls above it, If I remove the walls and keep the floor the glitch returns.https://i.postimg.cc/gkpVL4V3/Bug.jpg

I have the same issue and I'm guessing all Simmers do. It the same issue here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Round-rooms-have-blue-ceilings/m-p/11668696#M221160
