Day of the Dead Challenge this year?

I mentioned it to my son who plays and he said he's had sims showing up in Day of the Dead outfits all along and he can ask for sugar skulls, but he has all of them too so he didn't actually ask. He never really thought anything about it until I said something. I don't mind them sticking around but I'd also like the full challenge to return. I know some people don't like them, but my son and I both enjoy the fun addition to the game!
